Ms. Alcira Estevez

Ms. Estevez has been teaching for almost 20 years! She has been teaching 6th grade math at Russell for 12 years. She enjoys teaching math because she finds math to be like a secret code to decode and manipulate. Her goal is to show students not only that everyone is welcomed and everyone can be successful with math but also that they can have a lot of fun with it. She obtained a bachelor's degree in Education from Arizona State University and a Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix.

Ms. Estevez is originally from Mexico. She is a proud blend of two cultures. She believes in taking the best of each one of them. She has a preteen daughter. They own two female cats. Ms Estevez's hobbies are dancing, hiking, reading, puzzles, traveling, and most importantly, spending time with her daughter, friends, and family.

Our math class will start most of the time with a warmup, then the main topic for the day, review, second topic.  We will have breaks and community builder activities like games and others.  I love questions.  I believe questions raise the level of thinking and help us learn from each other as a faster pace.
